We are now 14 weeks out from Noosa Triathlon so if you are racing and currently in hibernation it’s time to get out and get back to some squad sessions. The focus for the next couple of months as we start to get into the new season will be on strength endurance work which means finding some hills on the run, big gear work on the bike and paddles/pull buoy in the pool.
Please note that from Tuesday 15th August the venue for the windtrainer sessions will change to the Spring Hill Hall at 10 Love Street. The new venue is much larger than the room at Healthstream so will allow us to accommodate numbers better during the main part of the season. The hall is centrally located near Centenary Pool. There is a small carpark onsite for 12 cars and plenty of street parking. Toilets and change rooms are available, with the closest showers at the pool.
The new season kicked off last weekend with the Springfield Duathlon. We had 11 athletes out braving the chilly morning with many using the race as a warm-up to Sunshine Coast 70.3.
Results from the weekend:
* Brad Jones – 2:12
* Fiona Day – 2:39
* Genevieve Smith – 2:44
* Magda Michalak – 2:53
* Lisa Griffin – 3:28
* Troy Grimshaw – 1:09 (3rd 35-39)
* George Kontoleon – 1:14
* Melissa Derickx – 1:14 (1st 30-34)
* Kate Wardrope – 1:14 (2nd 35-39)
* Suki Bloom – 1:18 (2nd 25-29)
* Heidi Walker – 1:36
Next up we have a few athletes racing for World Champ qualification in Townsville in August then the Sunshine Coast 70.3 and the first race of the Qld Tri Series in September.
Trivia Night Fundraiser
Next weekend we are hosting a Trivia Night to raise much needed funds for Smiling for Smiddy and Gerrard Gosens in his quest to make the World Champs in Paratriathlon.
We still need more numbers to make this a successful fundraiser so please get a group of friends together and secure your tickets now.
Snacks and a pizza dinner will be provided, with drinks available for purchase on the night. There will be some great prizes and raffles up for grabs.
Please get behind this great cause and join us for what will be an awesome evening.
