Race Results

tri nation triathlon hotwWe have fit a few races in since the start of the year and have even more to come in the next month. Results at Hell of the West and Caloundra Triathlon have shown the Ironman NZ crew are fit and ready to race in only a few more weeks. Congratulations to Tim, Sarah, Andrew, Craig, Ian and Michelle for their efforts in hot conditions at long course tri HOTW.

We also had a big weekend at Caloundra last week with Chris and Rosy completing their first sprint distance tri plus several of the Ironman group spending the weekend riding over 250km as well as racing at the triathlon!

Training

tri nation triathlon trainingWe are now getting close to some of the major races of the season with Ironman New Zealand, Tweed Coast Enduro and Mooloolaba Triathlon all in the next month. Training will reflect the lead up to these races with some hard sessions still remaining before the taper starts.

This week many members undertook maximum heart rate testing during the Wednesday morning windtrainer session. This is a valuable piece of information to know particularly when it comes to your easy sessions. Next time you are on an easy run or ride work on keeping your heart rate below 70% of your maximum. If you find this difficult then you are pushing your easy sessions too hard and we recommend having a chat to the coaching team about your training.
A big congratulations to our 18 beginners who are on to the last week of their course which will finish with the Raby Bay Triathlon on the 21st February. We look forward to seeing many of them continue with triathlon and setting new goals into the future.

Cairns Training Camp

Due to popular request we will be running a training camp in Noosa that will target the Cairns Ironman and 70.3. The camp will run over the Anzac Day long weekend and start late afternoon on Friday 22nd April.

We now have over 10 athletes entered in the Ironman at Cairns and many more planning on travelling up for the 70.3 event so it should be a great weekend. Full details are online (click here).

Tri Nation Survey

We would love to get some feedback from you on Tri Nation and the services we offer. We have put together an online survey that will only take 2 minutes of your time for you to fill out.

Anyone that fills in the survey will also go into the draw to win a pair of Mizuno shoes. Click here to start the survey.

Mizuno

A big thank you to Mizuno who have once again come onboard as a sponsor for 2016. Mizuno have been with us for over 8 years and the number of people wearing Mizuno in the squad is a great testament to not only high quality but great range and even better colours!

Their latest release of the Catalyst shoe has received excellent reviews and is proving to be a great choice for those that were fans of the discontinued Elixirs.

Beginners Tri Tip

But all it takes is one race with your clothes rubbing in all the wrong places for you to quickly change your mind. Plus all you need to do is watch any triathlon and you’ll see that there are all types of shapes and sizes out there
