Good Luck But Not Goodbye
Our much loved Coach Jan coached her last official session yesterday morning with swimming at Healthstream. You could see by the turnout at coffee afterwards and by the messages for her on her card that she will be very missed as a coach, athlete and friend. Jan is moving back down to Melbourne to be closer to family, however with a grandchild on the way in Brisbane she will no doubt be back up regularly and along to training sessions.

We would also like to welcome back Hannah Hogan to the team who will be replacing Jan and coaching the Wednesday morning swim sessions. Hannah comes from a strong swimming background and we are excited to have her coaching.
12 Week Challenge
The 12 Week Challenge is now into it’s 3rd week and it’s been great to see the consistency in training from members. The Wednesday night core class with Chris has had rave reviews and all members are welcome to attend whether or not they are doing the Challenge.
Our leaderboard after 2 weeks has Michael Zink on top of the run challenge closely followed by Brett, Marnie, Jen, Clayton and Steve. In the swim challenge Jen and Clayton are leading the way with Jonathan just in behind. Keep up the great work!
Throughout the Challenge we have a Sunday morning run session. Whilst you need to be a Tri Nation member to attend this is a free session so does not count towards 10 session passes or those on a social membership. This weekend we are running from UQ Aquatic Centre at 6:30am so come along for a social run and breakfast at the Tennis Centre afterwards.
Tri Nation Uniforms
We still have plenty of stock of hoodies and swim caps that can be purchased online. Our TN Headsweat Visors are on their way and we’ll announce when we have these in stock.
The latest Scody gear is expected to be delivered at the end of next week – 5th June.
Our next order will be long course tri suits in time for the Sunshine Coast 70.3 and then a full order for delivery in October prior to Noosa.
Healthstream Gym and Pool Membership
With the facilities we have on offer at Healthstream many members are starting to see the benefits of incorporating some strength training and gym work into their routine. This can be especially beneficial over winter to build your strength and help create a base for the new season. For those that are using the gym and/or pool a few times a week it is worth looking at a gym/pool membership. Currently for Tri Nation members the cost is from $15.50 per week which for pool and gym is a great deal. This includes all group exercise classes on offer and covers the Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove facilities.
Triathlon Australia Membership
Triathlon Australia membership is compulsory to be a member of any triathlon club in Australia. We are approaching the time of year again where memberships are renewed. Please note that unless you opted out of automatic renewal when you signed up your membership will be renewed on the 1st July 2015. Congratulations on a HUGE Effort
We’ve had a few squad members put in some outstanding endurance efforts over the last couple of weeks. A massive congratulations to all of them, we’ve heard many squad members impressed by your commitment to your goals and tenacity to finish such big events. The members include:
- Callan Lloyd was part of the inaugural Ultraman Australia on the 9th-11th May. Callan finished 4th over the entire event in a total time of 23 hours and 23 minutes over the 10km swim, 420km bike and 84km.
- Tim Coles and Laura Moran completed the Northface 100 on the 16th May. Tim finished the event in 12:37 and Laura working through some ITB issues to finish in 16:15.
- Lucy Bird joined the Smiddy crew last weekend to ride 560km in 3 days. With strong winds over the whole weekend it sounded like a very challenging weekend. Lucy also raised $7,250 for Smiling for Smiddy through the event.
